That "no birds sing" in this one owes a debt to John Keats' very bewitched and bewitching poem "La belle dame sans merci". But I also had a weird dream where I did indeed fall off a bike--or more accurately, fell over on one. The "you" in the song is somewhat kaleidoscopic to me.

The definition of "failsafe" is causing a piece of machinery or other mechanism to revert to a safe condition in the event of a breakdown or malfunction. Obviously, the song is spinning its wheels. The failsafe is a wish--not something granted in the lyrics.
