I think this song was inspired by John Elizabeth Stintzi's amazing novel, MY VOLCANO--though the lyrics have nothing to do with the book. I was reading it around the time I wrote the song, so volcanos were in the atmosphere, as they are currently in Iceland. I recommend checking out the book. It's terrific! Another influence here (again in the atmosphere) is Brainiac, a band I love. If you don't know them and like absurdly angular robot dissonance and synthesized guitar weirdness check them out.--MH
