THE RAIN THE RAIN

Coolin’ at the wall
With a pillowcase of stars
It’s another year and another twenty wars
I shot all the violence
And the kids drank all the cameras
No one tipped the server
So the system glitched our presets

The rain came down, the rain came down
The sky was light with mewling waves
Of popcorn crashing into punks
And knocking off their glasses
The anger and aluminum
Fell into a hawk parade
Of weapons and some softer things
But no one shouted poems in the flood
All the windows opened onto blood

Coolin’ in a ditch
Wonderin’ where the others went
We were in the movies
We were mostly making rent
I coughed up the violence
And the kids scratched all the records
It sounded like a super glued-up
DIY digression
