WALLFLOWER

The sun sets whitely on my daughter’s nod.
Mostly she’s a blossom to herself.
The muddy banks of money and the cancer dog concur,
she’s the one who makes the glaciers melt.

Wallflowers for hours in the flood Now it’s gone
Warehouses, rain showers Now it’s mud

The fool moon marches on the antler’s hart,
costly as a wig of blood of felt.
It’s warmer in Ohio than the sky of glue suggests.
It’s clear, so I don’t have to spell it out.

Cold paint blows across the butter’s fat.
I’m the one whose skull adorns our shelf,
waiting for the factory of moss to have its turn
turning spokes of longing into doubt.
